In early August the Amazee Metrics team in Cape Town flew to Switzerland to spend time with the team in Zurich. Over a whirlwind 10 days together we enjoyed workshops, meetings with our clients and social activities.
Shortly after arriving in Zurich we met our client at the Dolder Grand hotel. We were given a tour of the beautiful building and the facilities it offers its guests. We were even given a peak behind the scenes at how the hotel runs!
The second day after workshops we went on a walking tour of Zurich. We saw many of the sites the city has to offer from the natural beauty of the lake and parks to the charming “Dörfli”; the old town of Zurich.
A few days later was one of the highlights of the trip; a team event enjoyed with our colleagues from Amazee Labs. We began in the afternoon with a tour of the Zurich University of the Arts campus at the Toni Molkerei.
Following the tour, we went to Jane Fine Food to learn how to cook properly. After a lot of fun and with a sense of accomplishment we sat down to the wonderful dinner we had been taught to prepare.
Our visit coincided with the city’s biggest annual party; the Zurich Street Parade.
We attended one of the biggest festivals held over the Street Parade weekend, Lethargy. We all loved the performances particularly by the Berlin based band Bonaparte.
After Friday and Saturday’s parties we spent Sunday hiking up the Uetliberg. The reward at the summit was a panoramic view of Zurich, the lake and the surrounding countryside.
Monday was our last full day with the team together and we spent Monday evening having a goodbye dinner at the pop up restaurant, Zum Goldenen Krass.
The dinner ended our wonderful ten days and another much needed opportunity for the entire team to be together. If there is one thing that we learn each time we are together it is how vital this time is for how we work. Even with the best online and virtual communications it cannot replace how well you get to know your colleagues when you spend time in each other’s company. We can’t wait till the next time!
