Google Mobile App Indexing: New Reports in the Google Search Console

The Google Search Console, formerly known as Google Webmaster Tools, provides two new reports about the indexing of mobile app content.

Adding the App

In order to use the new reports, you need to have an Android app. Add your mobile app to the Google Search Console by following the steps below:

  1. Enable deep link support for your Android app.

  2. Add your app in the Google Search Console and verify it.

New Reports for Apps

The Google Search Console provides the following additional reports:

  • Search Analytics Report: Google just recently introduced this report (it replaces the former Search Queries report) and made it available for apps as well. The Search Analytics report tells you for example which app content appeared in Google Search and for which search queries.

  • Fetch as Google: This feature allows you to check how Google sees your app and if there are any problems. Note that this feature is currently an alpha version.

In addition, the Crawl Errors report in the Google Search Console is still available for apps. Use it to identify crawling errors and to solve them.
